The all-Mexican war is just a few days away. Bets are set, people are ready to celebrate the Cinco De Mayo weekend on 4th May. Jaime Munguia is getting ready to dethrone the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. But would the 6’0″ tall Tijuana native be able to stop the might of his 5’8″ opponent, who just happens to be a pound-for-pound great? He is certainly putting in the work.

Coming off a spectacular TKO victory over John Ryder, Munguia is high on confidence as Canelo was only able to get a decision victory against Ryder when he fought Ryder last year. The confidence is clearly visible in Munguia’s latest training clip. Is the WBC Silver super middleweight champion truly ready to take down the face of boxing? The fans don’t seem to think so.

In a recent post captioned “Jaime Munguía is ready to bring the fire May 4,” fans got a sneak peek of Jaime Munguia in action. The clip shared by DAZN Boxing showcases Munguia intensely working on his jab, feints, hooks, and crosses. Each movement, executed with precision and focus, is a clear testament to his dedication.

He is donning black gloves and listening to music as he trains. While watching the clip, one can’t help but wonder: will these sharpened skills be enough for Munguia at 43-0 to take on a champion like Canelo Alvarez (60-2)? The T-Mobile Arena in Vegas awaits. But of course, the fans already have the answer to this.

But fans are unimpressed

The release of Munguia’s training video has certainly stirred a pot of varied opinions among boxing enthusiasts. One fan saw the upcoming fight as a high-voltage event, predicting an electric atmosphere come fight night. However, most weren’t as kind to Munguia, as this fan.

Another fan anticipates an intense, action-packed bout that he believes will showcase back-and-forth aggression, ultimately leading to Canelo overpowering Munguia in the later rounds.

On a more skeptical note, this fan expressed doubts about Munguia’s qualification for this fight, despite acknowledging that he would perform better than Jermell Charlo did. This fan seemed resigned to the idea that Munguia’s efforts, though commendable, might not be sufficient enough to secure a win.

Adding to the skepticism, another person bluntly stated that Jaime Munguia wasn’t ready to face a boxer of Canelo’s caliber. This direct judgment reflects a common undercurrent of concern regarding whether Munguia has the experience and skill necessary to compete at such a high level.

Echoing the same sentiment, this person was even more dismissive, confidently predicting that Canelo would dominate the fight. This fan’s reaction underscored a genuine belief in Canelo’s superior abilities and Munguia’s perceived readiness—or lack thereof.

Will Jaime Munguia surprise the world by rising to the occasion, or will Canelo reaffirm why he is one of boxing’s greats? What are your thoughts?
