Jack Catterall is back at it again! Just last month, he took on Josh Taylor in a rematch to exact revenge for his first career loss at the hands of Taylor in February 2022. After twelve rounds of battle at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, Catterall walked home with a unanimous decision win. And now, he is craving more action, as a fight against former WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis was announced on Saturday by Matchroom Boxing.
Prograis, on the other hand, suffered his first career loss against Josh Taylor in October 2019, and another loss against Devin Haney in December last year. So, the upcoming fight between the two super lightweights is indeed a high-stakes one. But the question is, when is the fight scheduled for? Where will the fight transpire? Let’s find out!

Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis are set to go toe-to-toe on August 24 at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England. They’ll be duking it out in a 12-round super lightweight showdown, broadcast live on DAZN. Catterall, who’s 30 years old with a record of 29-1-0, steps into the ring with just one fight less than his 35-year-old opponent, Prograis, who boasts a record of 29-2-0. Prograis has knocked out 24 of his 29 opponents, which clearly outshines Catterall’s 13 knockouts out of his 29 wins. This gives Prograis a big edge in possibly putting his English rival on the canvas when they square off. But fighting in England means he’ll have to deal with a passionate home crowd rooting for Catterall. Still, both fighters were eager to weigh in on the upcoming showdown!
Jack Catterall didn’t want to wait any longer
The upcoming bout will be Catterall’s second consecutive fight against a former 140-pound champion. And guess what? He is really looking to leave a mark on the boxing world with this one. According to a report from ESPN, Catterall said, “I’ve waited around for big fights to happen before, sitting around waiting for title shots and it caused me a huge amount of inactivity. I’ll never do that again… I’m looking forward to sharing the ring with such a great fighter.”

While the fight holds significant importance for Catterall, Prograis views it as even more crucial, as he aims to recover from his decisive defeat against Devin Haney last year. When discussing the upcoming bout, Prograis said, “I view Jack as one of the best in the world at 140 pounds. It’s a great fight because Jack is eager to become a world champion and I’m looking to become a three-time world champion.”
According to some sources, Catterall and Prograis were supposed to throw down a few years ago, but it didn’t pan out. Obviously! However, now that it’s finally going down, we’re in for a real barnburner. It’s America versus England, a classic showdown that’s gonna light up the boxing world. So, who you got for the win?
