Mike Tyson, for a significant part of his life, has struggled with drugs and drinking. Tyson openly acknowledged that he was an alcoholic and was several times on the verge of dying. Despite how it affected him, Tyson did not want to stop drinking. In the latest episode of HotBoxin’ with Mike Tyson, ‘Iron’ spoke about how his mother and sister died because of drug abuse and drinking.

Guest Steelo Brim spoke about a podcast where the guests conversed after drinking wine and smoking weed. To this Tyson replied by saying, “I’m a recovering alcoholic so you guys wouldn’t like me if I did that. I would never do it, you can’t pay me to do that. I’ve almost killed myself so many times drinking. Hey listen, I’m embarrassing, I’m an alcoholic. It’s ugly. I think I got five years or six years, what do I have Kiki?”

Hearing ‘Iron’ Mike, Leslie Jones spoke about how her father, an alcoholic, died because he did not receive help of any kind. According to Jones, her father had cirrhosis. To which Tyson responded by saying, “That’s how my mother died. My mother died because of that too. My sister died too, you know what I mean, drug involved.”

Jones went on and added that those who would drink believed that they could not stop drinking. This is why they gave in. However, Tyson felt otherwise. Here is what he said about drinking and quitting it.

Tyson did not want to stop drinking. However, he stopped. Who did he stop drinking for? On HotBoxin’, ‘Kid Dynamite’ answered what made him stop drinking. Regarding his intimacy with drinking, he said, “No, I didn’t want to stop. I could stop anytime. I didn’t want to stop.”

On being asked who he stopped for, Tyson replied by saying, “My daughter. But it wasn’t overnight.” Even before, on various occasions, Tyson opened up about his struggle with drinking. Tyson realized he had responsibilities and had to be there for his kids.
