Boxing legend Mike Tyson wasn’t one of the biggest fighters to have stepped in the ring. On the contrary, he stood at 5 ft 10 inches and used his small frame to his advantage. He used his “peek-a-boo” style to bring down the giants of the division. His destructive power and accuracy made sure that opponents leave the ring with a brutal punishment. Recently Gervonta Davis has been compared with Tyson with his record of 27 KOs from 29 fights.
However, Tyson believes differently. In a recent interview with the Ring Magazine, the former world champion stated, “If I had to say someone closest to me, I would say Isaac Cruz.” He also stated that Tank reminds him of Aaron Pryor instead. However, fans were not happy with his comments. Recently, the man in question shared his opinion on the matter during an interview.

During a recent interview with FightHype, Isaac Cruz shared his response to such high praise by the Brooklyn native. The interview was a little bizarre as the translator at one point was disturbed by some other person, leaving the interviewer and Cruz in an awkward position. Moreover, when the interviewer tried to ask another question after the “last question”, the translator stated that he was asking too many questions.
Nevertheless, when asked about Mike Tyson’s acknowledgment of him, Isaac Cruz expresses his elation. He stated, “What better, it’s wonderful. What better way to be motivated and keep working than to know one of the best ever in boxing gave me such praise? I mean it’s tough to put into words how much that means. And it’s also really complex to try to live up to that. So it gives me motivation to keep doing my best and I’m putting my best foot forward. Knowing that fighters like that, you know, recognize my work.”
Trying to live up to Tyson’s recognition is a challenging task. Nevertheless, it fuels his determination to keep striving for excellence. Isaac is committed to giving his best effort and leaving no stone unturned. The fact that the renowned fighter acknowledges his hard work boosts his confidence, propelling him forward in his journey.
Cruz remains adamant about getting his redemption
Hailing from Mexico City, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz is determined to make his country proud in the competitive 135-pound division. He is soon going to face undefeated American boxer Giovanni Cabrera during the co-main event for Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford on Showtime PPV. The fight is set to take place on July 29 in Las Vegas. He stated, “I am ready to put Mexico on top once again and show that I am meant to go up against the best.” Cruz comprehends the significance of dedication, hard work, and discipline in his profession.
Cruz emphasized that if one wants to become an elite athlete, they have to “learn how to live with sacrifice.” Born into a family of boxers, Cruz understands the toll his career takes on his personal life. Despite missing moments with his family, he channels this as motivation to excel.
