Ahead of his WBC Interim World (Super) Middleweight title defense against Caleb Plant, the undefeated champion David Benavidez declared that he would “definitely” perform better than Canelo Alvarez did against the former IBF Middleweight title holder on March 25th. Being a professional boxer for 10 years now, Benavidez believes he knows “exactly” what he has to do in the ring. Not only Alvarez but Benavidez feels his approach to a fight is completely different from everybody.

In his recent interview with Fight Hub TV, on being asked about what he wanted to execute better against Plant than Alvarez did, the American confidently spoke about the manner in which he would “dissect the fight”. “It’s not only with just him. I just wanna have the performance once I get in. You know, you see my fights. The way I go and dissect the fight is completely different from everybody – it’s more brutal,” replied Benavidez by asserting.

When Canelo Alvarez squared off against Caleb Plant in 2021, he defeated the latter via 11th-round TKO in the ring. Having seen Canelo’s performance against Plant, Benavidez believes he can and will do better and, of course, “stop him [Plant]” early, on March 25th. Speaking of his game plan, Benavidez asserted that he would not mind “getting hit a few shots” in order to get the exact shots he wants to get off against his opponent inside the boxing ring. “Definitely Canelo, I’ve seen what Canelo did to Caleb Plant. I know I could do better and I will do better. And I’m gonna stop him earlier”, said Benavidez in his interview with Fight Hub TV.

Benavidez, who ran into a heated confrontation ahead of his press conference with Caleb Plant, added, “I know exactly what it takes to stop the fight, I know exactly what it takes to knock somebody out. And I will just put the game plan together.” Alvarez stopped Plant in the 11th round and likewise, Benavidez does not intend to go the distance with Plant in the ring. Although he did not disclose a particular round as such, Benavidez declared it won’t go 12 rounds.
