WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford has long been touted to face unified champion Errol Spence Jr. However, despite this matchup being one of the most lucrative and biggest fights in the sport, it has still not materialized after years of speculation. Many people thought ‘Bud’ would face Spence in December but instead, he chose to fight David Avanesyan. He would beat the Russian a in convincing fashion, securing a sixth-round TKO victory.
However, many felt that this matchup was too easy for ‘Bud’ who needed to face higher-level competition. Moreover, he recently came up with a confusing message on social media that made promoter Lou Di Bella take some shots at the WBO champion. According to Mayweather Jr, Crawford is the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world right now.

In a recent tweet, Crawford asked his fans – what was worse? losing and not making it to the playoffs, or making it to the playoffs and still losing. “Which is worse? Losing and not making it to the playoffs or making it to the playoffs and losing?” he wrote.
However, Di Bella claimed that the first option was much worse and proceeded to take some shots at ‘Bud’. He claimed that the worst thing was never losing and still not making the biggest fight. “Losing and not making it to the playoffs is way, WAY worse. The same way it’s worse losing and not making it to the biggest fight of your career. Or even worse, NEVER losing and still not making it to the biggest fight of your career.”

This was in reference to the Spence fight as it certainly would be the biggest fight of both their careers, that has ever been made. Moreover, this dig also garnered some strong reactions from fans who shared their thoughts on this as well.

A fan even gave his reasoning as to why the fight hasn’t been booked yet. He claimed that it had been five years since PBC were making excuses, he also had enough of being lied to by promotions about this fight.
The fight isn't happening because of PBC. It's been 5 years of making excuses by PBC. Get a belt, leave top rank, EJ needs to get the other 3 belts, etc. It's like an abusive relationship. How many times do people need to be lied to before they realize what's going on?

Moreover, a fan called it a 10-8 round for Di Bella with his dig being very clever and to the point.
10-8 round for Lou!😂…and got damn Crawford slow ass can't spell smh…dude needs to have somebody proof read before he hits send https://t.co/IBHzuQI5k0

The fans were with the boxing promoter who was not shy to hit ‘Bud’ where it hurt. However, this doesn’t change the fact that a fight with Spence Jr. is still not looking like a possibility this year. The two welterweights are a step above the competition and certainly two of the best of their generation.
Therefore, this potential fight will always be in the dark, since fans might not see these athletes compete against each other. This might be the reason the fans and boxing community were a little harsh on the WBO champion asking these questions.
