Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders have frequently lashed at each other, prior to their 168 lbs unification battle on May 8. This vile relation has seen another verbal confrontation where Alvarez responded to his opponent’s criticism over the judges.
WBO titleholder Billy Joe Saunders has ridiculed the judges for favoring Alvarez every time a fight goes to the decision. According to the Brit champion, having a no scorer from England would be an advantage for Canelo. While the P4P king has attained most of his wins via stoppage, Saunders didn’t hesitate to put a scratch on him.
However, Canelo Alvarez appeared unbothered about the remarks. He connected with Brian Custer to respond. That said, the WBC and WBA champion vowed to stop Saunders when they collide inside the ring.

He said, “We are in the USA country. I am not from here, I am from Mexico, he is from England. So, he is not a Mexican user. So, it’s just excuses, excuses, and excuses. But at the end of the day, I hope I don’t need the judges.”
The 12-round headliner will take place at the AT& T Stadium, amid a live audience. Matchroom Promotions have unveiled a stacked card and it will be available live on PPV in DAZN. As the winner takes all three belts, Alvarez vs Saunders can be a gateway for several more 168 lbs thrillers in the coming days.

Moreover, training with the WBC champion Tyson Fury can be the fuel to his fire. After remaining inactive for more than a year, Saunders successfully returned to defend his belt against Martin Murray in December 2020.
Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez also ended his year-long inactivity by beating Callum Smith for the WBC and WBA titles in December. He further defended them with a Knockout against Avni Yildirim in February. Hence both men have been super active in recent times. So, it makes sense to put them in a blockbuster ride.
