Gabriel Silva, the son of legendary MMA fighter Anderson Silva, made his professional boxing debut on Friday night. The 25-year-old faced off against Angelo Thompson in a four-round 160-pound match at Hollywood Fight Nights in Commerce, California. He also secured a unanimous decision victory.
The judges scored the bout 39-36, 38-37, and 39-36 in favor of Silva, who was competing for the first time since 2021. He suffered a knockout loss in a kickboxing match before transitioning into boxing. Thompson, who has dropped to 0-7 as a professional boxer, proved to be a worthy opponent for Gabriel in what was a closely contested bout. While this was not the toughest opponent out there, it was great to see Gabriel emerge victorious. Moreover, the cherry on the cake was that his victory came on the birthday of his father.
The former champion, who was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this year, was in his son’s corner for the fight and seemed pleased with his performance. This was not all as the fans also congratulated ‘The Spider’s’ son for giving his father the perfect birthday present.
