Dillian Whyte will finally get his opportunity to avenge his defeat against Alexander Povetkin. The two will face off on March 27, in a bout that will have massive implications on the division. Heavyweight challenger, Michael Hunter, has now shared his prediction.

The Whyte-Povetkin rematch had been set for November. However, the Russian tested positive for the coronavirus, and they had to push the fight forward. After a lot of speculation, fans will finally get to witness the exciting rematch.

Although, Hunter doesn’t think there will be a change in the outcome.

The 19-1-1 boxer spoke to SecondsOut on YouTube and shared his opinion on the fight. He said, “Yeah, I think that it’s good that he [Whyte] got more time. You know, I think that it’s going to be the same outcome in the sense. I think that we’re going to see a good little fight for a little bit.”

“But somebody’s going to go to sleep, and I think the odds are leaning more to Povetkin. That’s just from my own perspective.”

Therefore, with these comments, Hunter made no secret of his pick for the fight. In the first fight, Whyte dominated the bout up until the fifth round, when Povetkin caught him with a vicious uppercut and put him to sleep.

Michael Hunter is talking from experience

The American heavyweight’s choice may surprise many fans. Povetkin is the more experienced fighter of the two; however, Whyte showed in the first fight that he can dominate the Russian. Thus, picking Povetkin to win in a similar fashion will raise eyebrows.

However, the former cruiserweight is talking from his own experience. He had faced Povetkin back in 2019, and the two fought out a close draw. Neither fighter knocked out the other, and thus, Hunter has firsthand experience of Povetkin’s skills.

Either way, it appears as though this will be a very close fight. After several hurdles, the fight will finally happen on Saturday. Fans will hope for yet another exhilarating fight between the two hard-hitting heavyweights.
