Ryan Garcia is as formidable a boxer as they come, his boxing record of 23-1 (19 KO wins, 1 KO loss) speaks for itself. Oscar De La Hoya who is Garica’s long-time promoter, has seemingly run into a back-and-forth with the lightweight star on Twitter.

The CEO of ‘The Golden Promotions’ was not present at the post-fight press conference after his fighter, Ryan Garcia, was knocked out by Gervonta Davis in a catchweight bout (one-pound above the lightweight limit). He said, “My security team told me, ‘Boss, we’ve got to get the f**k out of here,’ because I received death threats”. While a death threat may be a legitimate reason to duck out of the press conference, it still did not still well with the fans and boxing community.

There seems to be fresh trouble, brewing in paradise between ‘KingRy’ and ‘The Golden Boy’. According to Michael Benson, the online boxing editor for talkSPORT, De La Hoya recently mentioned that Manny Pacquiao, a previous legend, is the new face to be stacked up against the lightweight champion Ryan Garcia next.

It goes without saying that Garcia wasn’t having any of it, he took to his Twitter to rebuke De La Hoya, stating, “This isn’t happening!! I said what I wanted… It’s frustrating.. tired of this”.

However one should keep in mind, that De La Hoya could have been feinting. He could be mouthing-off, just to keep his prized fighter in the limelight. After all, that’s what boxing promoters are known to do.

If it is not Pacquiao, who is Ryan Garcia fighting next?

Even though Garcia’s probable opponents were revealed by Oscar De La Hoya, the CEO of ‘Golden Boy Promotions’, the 24-year-old had plans of his own when he tweeted about his next set of potential opponents. He recently revealed the three opponents he is most interested in facing.
