The tension between KSI and Jake Paul has been building up for some time. Jake Paul is widely considered the most prominent and successful figure in the world of influencer boxing. On the other hand, KSI is a renowned face from YouTube venturing into combat sports. Moreover, fans have eagerly awaited a KSI vs. Paul fight since 2018. Although both agreed to fight, it didn’t manifest. The speculated reason was Jake Paul’s new MMA deal that complicated things. In addition to that, weight was another issue.

Where KSI weighed 175 pounds, Jake Paul weighed 185. Both sides struggled to agree on weight, making negotiations challenging. Thus, the fight ultimately didn’t happen. Now, KSI is fighting Tommy Fury on 14th October. Additionally, the fight’s date is the same as Jake’s brother, Logan Paul, fighting Dillon Danis. However, Paul’s confession of what truly transpired for the fight’s cancellation has raised eyebrows.

Jake Paul opens up about why the KSI fight didn’t come to fruition

So, the influencer Boxer appeared on Full Send Podcast, where he discussed the fight. In the discussion, Jake Paul said that the English boxer wanted to fight him at 180 pounds. And he wanted a rehydration clause that limits water intake. Jake usually fights at 185 pounds and thinks 180 is too low for him. As he conveyed, “KSI denied fighting me because I wouldn’t agree to getting down to 180 pounds. He wanted 180 pounds with a rehydration clause. First, I don’t think I can get to 180. I usually fight at 185, and that’s already the maximum where I can get to. With the rehydration clause, I basically couldn’t drink water.”

KSI later agreed to fight Tommy at 183 pounds. Jake believes KSI used the weight issue to avoid fighting him. They discussed a “Winner takes all” deal. But the contract only included the purse, not the pay-per-view money. “So he was hiding behind that, not wanting to do the fight. Now you see him agreeing to fight Tommy at 183 pounds. It’s clear he was hiding behind that and maybe didn’t actually want to fight me. We even said, ‘Winner takes all,’ but behind the scenes, when we tried to put it into the contract, they said it’s just the purse that the winner takes, but the pay-per-view money is still split 50-50.”

However, this isn’t the first time the YouTuber-turned-boxer has slammed KSI.

A look into the KSI and ‘The Problem Child’ beef

Jake Paul and KSI have a long feud and ‘The Problem Child’ often calls KSI an ‘exhibition fighter.’ Furthermore, Paul has questioned KSI’s boxing skills before. He said KSI needed his brother Logan Paul to gain fame and also claimed that the British YouTube sensation is ‘degrading’ the sport.  A KSI vs. Jake Paul fight could be a hit, especially if KSI beats Tommy Fury. Tommy Fury is Jake Paul’s only professional loss.

As Jake scorned, “You are an exhibition fighter doing exhibition events…I love boxing, you love your ego. Im helping the sport, you are degrading the sport. Don’t ever confuse the two…And for the record I would f* you up in boxing or mma. Easy easy easy work. However, KSI plans to retire if he beats Tommy Fury. He doubts a fight with Jake Paul will happen. This adds to the speculation that the awaited fight may never occur.
