The current WBA Continental welterweight champion Conor Benn has had his name echoed in a controversy. Last year, the champ failed a drug test ahead of his bout against Chris Eubank Jr. The news spread like wildfire in boxing, and Benn faced severe backlash from his fans and the governing bodies. However, as disheartening as this news was for Benn and his professional aspirations, he was relieved of the accusations last month. In February, the WBC cleared the Brit’s name from the false accusations and gave a rational reason.
Recently, Conor Benn reentered the welterweight world rankings of the WBC, and the fans were not pleased with it. Fans took to social media to share their disappointment.

Michael Benson from TalkSport, took to Twitter to announce the reinstating of Conor Benn in the WBC rankings. This news comes one month after WBC’s statement that Benn had eaten too many eggs. And that tampered with his USADA drug test. He took to his Instagram and wrote, “In a statement posted on his Instagram story last week, Benn said that “the manner in which I’ve been cleared has seemed to create further questions and add further fuel to baseless negative speculation.”
Conor Benn has now been officially reinstated in the WBC welterweight rankings at #7 after they ruled there was "no conclusive evidence" he intentionally/knowingly ingested clomifene.

Even though his drug test came out positive, ‘The Destroyer’ claimed innocence and questioned the testing practices of the testing agency. Moreover, Benn tested positive for Clomifene, a fertility drug women use. However, he is ready to make a comeback inside the ring and take redemption for this recent controversy.
Additionally, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom received flak about the news of Benn being relieved by the WBC. The boxing community pointed many fingers at the British promoter. A former world title contender took a dig at Hearn and claimed he used money to free Benn from failed drug test accusations. Nevertheless, fans also expressed their discontent with the WBC’s decision.

Leszek Dudek showed his disapproval of this decision and criticized the WBC for normalizing steroid use in the sport.
So according to WBC a fighter can basically be on steroids and benefit from having steroids in his system as long as he claims he didn’t take anything intentionally and he doesn’t know how has this even happened. What a joke.
