For all her achievements, the former WBC Welterweight champion Mia St. John has had an unsparing life. She married actor Kristoff St. John and became a mother to two children. Sadly their marriage barely lasted four years. Two years after her divorce, in 1997, Mia St. John embarked on a boxing career at age twenty-nine. Unfortunately, tragedy first struck when her son Julian died by suicide in 2014. Five years later, Kristoff St. John passed away due to medical issues aggravated by alcoholism.
The former champion, who retired in 2016, herself has had issues with inebriation. In her book, Fighting for My Life, St. John discussed her life in Northern California. Reportedly, she slugged it out against substance abuse and found much-needed help through boxing and martial arts.

Today she shared a rather poignant message with all her followers on hurdles one faces on the journey to sobriety, “It’s so much harder to get #sober than to stay sober! I must remember that.” Perhaps very soon, she must realize that many stand with her and wish well for her. Quite a few joined in to lend a voice of support for St. John. One user told St. John that while staying away from alcohol is tough, she is more than capable of handling the situation. She has been through times much more challenging. Another user advised Mia St. John to hang on. She must constantly remind herself that she can take charge of her life. Though it might not be a piece of cake, she has handled many demanding situations.
However you must also remember that you can do this and that you have done it before. I know it won’t be easy but your life was happier when no alcohol was involved! You can do this.

A user named Jesus Acevedo advised staying persistent. Over some time, it will become a habit, and soon she will reach a stage where the problem will be virtually non-existent.
Keep working. It will become a daily accomplishment and one day it will be a non factor. I am over 30 years and it will get better.

A user named Michael Freda also pitched in along with others. He exhorted Mia St. John that her years as a boxer and athlete provided the bedrock to stay determined and persistent. She was a world champion and remained so to all her fans and followers.
Mia, your determination, your focus and your discipline in your career as an athlete is the solid foundation for you to continue to stay strong. You were a champion then and you still are a champion! Continuing to send you positive thoughts.
