Exhibition fights are an ongoing trend in the boxing space. Over the past few years, there have been umpteen exhibition bouts that have stirred the fight universe. The trend has seen former boxing champions return to the ring even years after their retirement. In that list, Oscar De La Hoya ranks at the top.
The 48-year-old has expressed his eagerness to fight his former rival and boxing great, Floyd Mayweather, many times. Recently, in a chat with TMZ Sports, he once again spoke about fighting ‘TBE‘.
“It wouldn’t be an exhibition. Somebody would, like Floyd, it would be a real fight, so I mean, it’s probably the biggest fight you can make today. That will generate tons of money, so that would be very interesting,” said De La Hoya.

De La Hoya, a few months back, challenged Mayweather for a $100 million fight. Also, TMZ Sports reported Mayweather might be interested in fighting ‘Golden Boy’ if he really has $100 million. However, nothing official arrived from ‘Pretty Boy’ or his team pertaining to this matter.

Also, as Mayweather left the professional boxing space in 2017, it seems unlikely that he will lace up the gloves for a pro-bout.
Moreover, he knows the amount of hard work and dedication it requires for a professional boxing outing. That said, De La Hoya vs Mayweather 2, in an actual fight, seems unlikely at the moment.
