Although he is an exceptional fighter, his profound perspectives on life in general also make his admirers ponder the meaning of human existence. Despite having left the sport, he is still well-known thanks to his podcast Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson and his other endeavors. He recently gave some advice to a guest on his show that his fans may find helpful.

In a recent episode of Mike Tyson’s podcast, American rapper Cordae discussed how he had previously struggled with depression. He became troubled as a result of his emotional anguish, and he also gained weight during that time.

The legendary boxer offered a piece of advice to the young rapper and said, “Your mind is not your friend, and let’s say if it detects any weaknesses, it will overwhelm you.”

He further added, “You gotta control your mind. The purpose of your body is just to carry your brain, so your brain has to be under control. Because if you don’t have it under control, it’ll destroy you and everything around you, it’s not your friend. It doesn’t want to do anything nice for you only if you control it.”

Mike Tyson, who was once dubbed ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ due to his anger, has a calm side to his personality too. He is a sincere student of philosophy, history, and warfare. As a result, he seems to have some knowledge of mind control. Even though he had a life full of ups and downs, he bounced back every time like a true warrior. 

Mike Tyson’s battle against mental health 

‘Iron Mike’ has lived a life that very few people can imagine. There were many peaks and troughs throughout it. Tyson has engaged in all of these vices, including using drugs, being a ladies’ man, and spending a lot of money on lavish stuff. He even served three years in prison, which undoubtedly helped him develop perspective.

The former champ once shed some light on his mental health and said, “I don’t think about much but my mind is a torture chamber. It is not my friend. So I have to control it in order to have any stability in my life. And that is my biggest problem to date, staying in control.”
