The heavily discussed fight between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury is just around the corner. The fight will unfold in the beautiful city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Some experts and analysts have also predicted that the fight will be even bigger than a similar crossover boxing event between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. Even though the fight doesn’t have any titles on the line, the award will be bragging rights and ego.

In the leadup to the fight, Francis Ngannou was at the unfavorable end of public opinion as fans branded the Cameroonian the underdog. What’s more, the entire event got labeled as a money grab, mainly because of Ngannou’s lack of experience. However, the legendary boxer and Ngannou’s trainer, Mike Tyson, has vehemently suggested Ngannou has what it takes to drop Fury. And now, with just three days left in the fight, Tyson Fury announces something that can potentially strip the boxer of his undefeated title.

While appearing in an interview with iFL TV, the reporter questioned Fury about his thoughts on BBBofC sanctioning the fight. Fury quickly responded by asserting someone from his team informed him that it would be a real fight, affecting his boxing record. “Robert told me yesterday that it’s a real fight that goes on the record,” Fury said. However, the ‘Gypsy King’ suggested that he is not worried because the fight will help him get 35-0. “I’m happy because I’m going to get 35 and 0 now,” said Fury.

Fury then went on to shed light on what the results would have been before intervention from BBBofC. “Before, it was just going to be like a result on the night but not an official win or loss on your record, and now it makes things a bit more tastier,” said Fury. He even explained the ramifications of a loss against Ngannou. “If I get beat, then I really have lost. It’s not like an exhibition where there’s no contest. It’s a win or loss on your record,” said Fury.

Eddie Hearn on BBBofC sanctioning the fight

While Tyson Fury sees BBBofC’s involvement as the fight getting serious, experts like Eddie Hearn don’t see it in the same light. Hearn has been trying to get BBBofC to sanction a fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. However, things are not looking great for that fight because previously, Benn tested positive for banned substances.

So, in his recent appearance with Seconds Out, Hearn condemned the decision from BBBofC to sanction the upcoming fight between Fury and Ngannou. “The BBBofC are sanctioning that fight between two non-British boxing license holders,” said Hearn. He even threw some shade at the fight itself by claiming it’s a total “money grab.”
