Montero Lamar Hill, more famously known by his stage name, Lil Nas X, has a very interesting story behind his rap name. He revealed about it, when appeared on the latest episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson.

The overnight rapping sensation, Lamar Hill, got an opportunity of sharing a couch with the former heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson, and the hip hop legend, DJ Whoo Kid. Whereby, he talked about his rapid rise to fame and most importantly, shared some never heard insights on where he got his stage name from.
The rapper’s name tends to be cool and very unusual because of the contest behind it. Therefore out of curiosity, Tyson asked about the story behind Hill’s stage name.
Initially, it left Lamar Hill stunned. However, after introspecting in silence for a few seconds he narrated the entire roadmap to his cool rap name.

According to him, when he was a teenager, he kind of like dated a guy name, Nasir. Around the same time, he started a Twitter account but he did not want to give it his name. So to stand out he used the name ‘Nas,’ which he actually stole from ‘Nasir,’ and when he started to do music, it kind of got stuck. This was how he got Nas in his rap name.
How did Lil Nas X get ‘X’ in his name?
After telling the truth behind ‘Nas,’ Lamar Hill went on to talk about how he got ‘X’ in his name.
“I was like oh I’ll be a little Nas and then it gets worse that gets worse. I’ve never told anybody this, it gets worse so it’s like okay I’m a little Nas now blah blah blah post my music. Wait a minute, there’s another little nausea that exists on YouTube and SoundCloud so I was like I’m gonna just add an X and I was doing objects so it was like the most [ __ ] up way to get a stage name ever,” the 23-year-old rapper said.
After listening to such a bizarre truth behind the name ‘The Baddest Man on Planet’ could not stop laughing.

He said, “What a battle right.”
Later, Nas X apologized for stealing the name from Nasir. However, he did not want to change it now.
