Ryan Garcia is a rising star in the sport. However, in April of this year, “KingRy” got handed his first-ever defeat against Gervonta Davis. Meanwhile, Vasyl Lomachenko is set to square off against the current undisputed lightweight champion, Devin Haney on May 20th. Ahead of his fight, the former lightweight champion weighs in on Garcia’s failure to land a clean left hook against Davis and compares it with Haney’s jab.

It is important to mention that Haney and Garcia have competed against each other before when they were amateurs. Although, a few days ahead of the fight, Lomachenko finds a lot common in Garcia and Haney’s game plan. The former champion is of the opinion that their skill sets are not versatile.

Lomachenko was asked about Haney’s spectacular jab and if he considers that to be a threat. However, he was of the opinion that his jab is comparable to Garcia’s left hook. And in a fight against a formidable opponent, such a one-trick-pony style of fighting will be neutralized.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, He stated, “It’s the same as Ryan Garcia has a left hook but it doesn’t work against a guy who knows boxing. So the saying, we understand we know it, everything can happen during a fight. I don’t know what happened. If you know about his jab, I know about his jab too.”

Haney’s jab in the past has been effective but Lomachenko is of the opinion that it won’t be able to affect his game plan. For all we know, both fighters are championship caliber and are going into the bout to win.

Devin Haney on how Vasyl Lomachenko would fight him

Lomachenko is best known for his ability to fight technically using his impeccable speed and managing his distance from his opponents. However, Haney believes that his opponent would fight him dirty come this Saturday night. He stated, “We know that’s his game plan to get inside try to make it as dirty as possible, try to hit and break, and do things like that.”
