In March 2022, on The Journey Podcast, Jake Paul said he often joked with his friends about “eating crispy cream doughnuts,” moving up to Heavyweight and taking on Mike Tyson. In this context, he even proposed a New School vs. Old School event worth $300 Million. But, who knew that Paul’s wish would come true back then?
Today, after the victory against Ryan Bourland, Jake Paul is on his way to sharing the ring with Tyson on July 20th in Texas. As expected, Paul, who fought on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. in only his second pro fight against Nate Robinson, is greatly excited. On that note, Paul revealed what made him want to pursue a fight against ‘Kid Dynamite’ in the first place.

In his latest YouTube video, Jake Paul recounted meeting his childhood hero, Mike Tyson for the first time. As per the clip Paul showed, ‘The Problem Child’ enjoyed exploring Tyson’s stuff including some of the gloves ‘Kid Dynamite’ wore during his memorable fights. “It all started four years ago when I met Mike Tyson at his ranch. It was going great, I was meeting my childhood hero for the first time,” said Jake Paul. “[But] Imagine meeting your childhood hero for the first time and they call you your brother’s name. We don’t even f***ing look alike,” continued ‘The Problem Child’.
“And ever since that day, Mike, I’ve wanted to knock you the f**k out,” added Jake Paul. But, soon, Paul declared he was joking. “In all seriousness, fighting Mike Tyson is such an honour. Not only will this be the biggest fight of my life but, I think this has the opportunity to change the history of boxing and be the biggest fight of the 21st century. And to step in there with a legend means the world to me,” The Problem Child’ concluded.
