Jake Paul buying shoes for his opponent—genuine kindness or just another publicity stunt?

The Jake PaulMike Tyson showdown on November 15 is the most anticipated boxing match of 2024. Apparently, the fight has already broken Canelo’s ticket sales record in the state of Texas that he set while fighting Billy Joel Saunders in 2021, according to the claims made by the former Disney star. However, Jake Paul will still leave no stone unturned to drum up interest in the fight and will try his level best to pack the stunning 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington to full capacity. Safe to say, all his antics are now directed toward marketing the fight which he plans to make a historic event in terms of PPV sales and gate revenue.

On that note, in his latest attack on Mike Tyson, Jake Paul has taken aim at his shoes. Paul’s latest Instagram story does raise a pertinent question – Does Mike Tyson not have enough money to buy a decent pair of shoes that fit? A snapshot of Tyson shoving Jake Paul during their recently concluded New York press conference has produced a literal slip-up. Confused?. Well, a closer look into the frame of Tyson’s push on Jake Paul will make you realize that his foot has slipped out of one of his New Balance shoes, exposing his heel during the action.

Pointing out the goof up, Jake Paul sarcastically noted in his Instagram Story, “Don’t worry, after a fight that will get you a pair of shoes that fit?”, humorously hinting at the fact that Tyson might not have money to buy a pair of shoes that fit. Well, one thing is for sure, the fans can sleep peacefully knowing that Tyson’s situation isn’t as dire as it was back in  2003 when he went bankrupt.

Joking aside, since his bankruptcy, Tyson has done quite well for himself, rebuilding his financial empire through his successful artistic ventures, and a hugely profitable cannabis business, Tyson 2.0. Now, his upcoming fight against Paul, which will be exclusively broadcast on Netflix, will reportedly add at least another $20 million to his bank account.

Nevertheless, Tyson needs to start wearing better shoes because that incident could have easily rendered him off-balance and caused an ankle injury, spoiling his plans for a massive payday.

Mike Tyson seemed extremely confident at the New York press conference as he issued threats to Jake Paul. Additionally, he showed glimpses of his rambunctious ‘Iron Mike’ days when he punched Jake Paul in the chest and also gave him a shove while laughing at him. Fortunately, for Jake Paul, there was no sting in Tyson’s punch, and Paul too returned the favor with a shove.

Almost certain of his victory on fight night, Tyson boldly proclaimed, “Who else can do it but me? We have a YouTuber fighting the greatest fighter ever to live. He may have been in the ring with people who have the same intentions, but the actuality, no. As soon as I catch this guy, it’s going to be totally over. He is going to run. He is gonna run like a thief.”

Many fight analysts and commentators have expressed concern about Tyson’s safety inside the squared circle. There is a 31-year age difference between the two fighters, as the much older Tyson will be in eight two-minute rounds heavyweight bout with the ‘Problem Child’.
