Floyd Mayweather is an idol for a sect of the boxing community; to the rest, he pricks them in the eye. When Mayweather powered through the ranks, emerging quintessential to the sport, it was all attributed to his talent. However, when accused of arrogance today, rapper Napoleon breaks down the basis of such notoriety.

Out of the blue, the focus of the boxing world has shifted to the Middle East. There Saudi Arabia leads the front in hosting some of the biggest events in the sport now. The kingdom has been welcoming of every big name in boxing. However, it seems like the population over there is too not fond of Mayweather. The disapproval was recently reflected in an interview where the Saudi Advisor to the Royal Court, Turki Alalshikh, dismissed the former welterweight champion. Now residing in Saudi Arabia, rapper Napoleon, whose real name is Mutah Beale, explains the reasons behind the persistent hostility for the boxer in the region.

Fans are familiar with ‘Money’s’ prominent presence in boxing and his extravagant displays of wealth on social media. However, critics argue that his behavior appears rude and arrogant, suggesting he relies on his 50-undefeated career. While his in-ring legacy remains stellar, his current actions have drawn criticism.

Speaking about how the Las Vegas-based champion ruled the sport in his time, Napolean, the rapper whose name grew to fame alongside Tupac Shakur, noted, “I think Floyd Mayweather in my opinion and this is my opinion, I think he one of the best to step in the ring, you know what I mean.” However, post his retirement, his behaviour irked many, according to Napolean.

The rapper, in his conversation on The Art of Dialogue’ added, “So I think outside the ring, maybe people don’t really feel his personality, the arrogance, the talking down on people. You know what I mean? And, just doing things, cause you know you got to carry yourself a certain way. Once you put yourself in that limelight, you know people gonna take you in face value, whatever they see, how you dealing with people and the way you acting, that’s how they going to look at you.”

Napoleon was quizzed on the snide remark, Turki Alalshikh, current Chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment for Saudi hurled at Mayweather. The rapper, now a devout Muslim and vocal supporter of Palestine, pointed out that Mayweather sent a plane load of aid to Israel during the Hamas attacks on the country. He suggested that the boxer’s unpopularity in Islamic countries may arise from such positions he takes, despite earning considerably from those regions.

In today’s boxing scape, Alalshikh, the advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi, remains pertinent. He has spearheaded fights of mammoth natures that once seemed implausible to happen. Earlier this year, DAZN asked him about his favorite boxer to date. While multiple names were thrown at him in guesses, one name stood out.
