Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing are witnessing a boom in business, whether on the show side of things or business. The stable first started its operation in 1982, with Barry Hearn at its helm. The British promotion is not only expanding its stable, with the inclusion of Shakur Stevenson, but it is also widening its financial base at the moment. It seems the stable is touching a 10-number figure.
Hearn, 47, is benefiting from his close relationship with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, which has seen his A-list fighters fight in Saudi Arabia. Anthony Joshua and Dmitry Bivol have put on splendid events in Saudi Arabia, and it has helped Matchroom Boxing attract eyeballs. The joining of hands with Frank Warren‘s Queensberry has only bolstered its dominance. It certainly helped them recently when Pitch International bought a stake in the promotion.
Simon Jordan, pointing out the details of the deal to TalkSports, also heaped praise on the promotion. Notably, the Matchroom also has a dominating presence in darts and pool. Continuing his assessment, the British media personality disclosed that Pitch International will acquire a minority stake after evaluating Matchroom at a billion pounds, which comes out to 1.31 billion in US dollars. He said, “It’s a phenomenal business, they’ve built a phenomenal business. Someone I know has bought a piece of Matchroom. And the valuation they’ve bought it at is significant, really significant. Close to £1billion is the valuation.”
