The date for the fight is set, and the predictions for the fight are out! Ryan Garcia will take on Devin Haney for Haney’s WBC super lightweight title on April 20 in Las Vegas. However, given the disparity in accomplishments between the fighters, many think Garcia doesn’t have a shot at winning! Despite that, Garcia had defeated Haney in the past!

The April 20 fight in Las Vegas won’t be the first time these two men enter the ring against each other. Having faced each other six times in amateur, both men have produced three wins each. So, the numbers hint at a 50/50 chance of both men winning. However, ‘The Goat’ Claressa Shields has other ideas. While speaking to Fight Hub TV today, she revealed whether the fight would be competitive!

Speaking to Marcos Villegas, Shields claimed the fight would be highly competitive, but just in the early rounds. “I see it as a very close competitive fight early. And I say that because of Ryan’s attributes, like he got heart, right? He’s fast, he’s flashy, he got some punching power, too. I just feel like [when] Devin figures him out, then the fight will become a little one-sided,” said Shields.

However, the undisputed queen doesn’t think Garcia would just give up and lose the fight. “But I’m not saying, ‘I think Ryan [will] just go out there and just lay down and get washed.’ I think that the beef is real between those guys, and Ryan really has a lot to prove,” said Shields. At the same time, Shields suggested that she hasn’t seen Garcia make any improvements in his style or add more ammunition to his arsenal. While Shields suggested the fight would be competitive, at least in the early rounds, Devin Haney thinks Garcia will quit on April 20!

Devin Haney wants to show the world who has gotten better since amateur days

While appearing in an interview with DZAN to discuss his upcoming fight against Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney reflected on the amateur fights, claiming it’s time to prove who the better fight is. “It’s been a long time coming. We’re 3-3 in the amateurs, and this is number 7. It’s time to seal the deal. To prove who’s the better man, who’s gotten better since the amateurs,” said Haney.

And I don’t think this will be anything different…I think he’ll quit on April 20th.”
