Ok, Mike Tyson didn’t make the cut. Neither did Oscar De La Hoya. Ryan Garcia has picked his top three boxers in boxing history, and the list did have a few shockers. So who all made the list?

‘KingRy’ recently sat down with Maria Arreghini and disclosed his inspirations while discussing his childhood and idols. While he revealed that he didn’t have any idols, he expressed his firm faith in Jesus Christ and God. Moreover, he had a long list of inspirations, including a three-year-old if “they were making sense” and his newborn daughter, whom he believes is smart and continues to inspire him.

Apart from the boxing icons, the American also finds inspiration in Cristiano Ronaldo. “You got Oscar De La Hoya. You got Floyd Mayweather, you have Manny Pacquiao, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson. There are so many people I find inspiration [in]. Cristiano Ronaldo,” Garcia declared.

So, when asked about the three best boxers in his opinion, Garcia took a long pause before he spelled out the names. While ‘Iron Mike’ and De La Hoya are notable absentees, Canelo Alvarez also fails to find a mention. Who is his all-time great, then?

Who are Ryan Garcia’s three best boxers in history?

The 25-year-old believed Manny Pacquiao was his all-time great. The Filipino fighter became an eight-division champion and put his country on the map, inspiring a generation across the world. Garcia said, I got to say Manny Pacquiao because he is an eight-division world champion. For you to come from the smallest weight class you could imagine and become a champion in eight divisions, that’s an all-time great.

The 24-1 record holder continued and then mentioned his compatriots, who won numerous accolades. One who hung up his boxing gloves, with a record of 50-0 without any blemish, and the one who floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee. I would say Floyd Mayweather and then Muhammad Ali,” Garcia added.

Garcia, coming off a KO win against Oscar Duarte, is slated to face Devin Haney next on April 20 with the WBC strap on the line. It remains to be seen whether the Victorville native will stamp his name in the record books and follow in the footsteps of the three greats he listed. Otherwise, he would find himself in a tight spot, as he can’t afford to add another loss to his column after Gervonta Davis handed him his first defeat last April.
