The BMO Stadium in Las Vegas was packed for the Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov fight card. Much of the credit goes to Saudi Arabia’s sporting mogul – His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, who has orchestrated his first boxing event in the United States. In addition to receiving quick international recognition due to his sporting business expertise, while the event was underway, the Saudi Royal Advisor was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame by Nevada.

Though many people think boxing is a dying sport, there is a very core and real audience that follows the sport with fervor. Conversations of boxing’s downfall as a sport were making it less attractive and popular. But thanks to His Excellency’s efforts,  his boxing commitment has at least partially contributed for it to thrive.

The chairman of the General Entertainment Authority for the Kingdom was the first person to be honored with an honorary induction into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. He received an attractive bronze fighter trophy as a memento in the presence of boxing greats Roberto Duran and Oscar De La Hoya. To further acknowledge his contributions to the sport, His Excellency was also given an honorary WBC belt.

Moreover, shortly after Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz’s upsetting loss against Jose Valenzuela, the Saudi advisor gifted a car to a random fan. As he had promised, His Excellency gifted a Lucid Motors car to one lucky fan in the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. All parties involved – fighters, promoters, and fans benefited from the event as everyone had the opportunity to take home something.

Well, Cruz’s surprise loss of the world title at the Riyadh Season Card was surprising nonetheless. But the Mexican fighter showed his yearning to face Valenzuela again for a rematch. Only time will tell when it will reach its fruition. On the other hand, ‘Bud’ created history as he became a four-division boxing champion by winning Madrimov’s WBA super welterweight title. But maybe this was just to close the distance between him and Canelo Alvarez to meet at 168 pounds. Even the Saudi fight-maker has shown his interest in organizing it but at one cost!

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh wants Canelo to “deal directly” with him

The Omaha native has now extended his record to 41-0. The only logical thing on his mind is to defeat Canelo at 168 pounds in order to become the first man to become an undisputed champion in three divisions during the four-belt era. Additionally, a fight with Canelo would allow him to retire from boxing with a hefty sum for his retirement. The Mexican has also indicated interest in the fight, but only if he receives a favorable contract.

While shedding some light on the subject, the GEA chairman stated, “I will give Canelo what I think is a fair price. If he accepts it, he deals directly with me to finish the deal. I don’t want anyone in the middle. I guaranteed Crawford a big fight, I want Canelo for Crawford and Crawford wants Canelo. But if Canelo is crazy [with his financial demands] I will still guarantee Crawford any fight he wants.”
