It seems like Ryan Garcia is finally moving on from his defeat at the hands of Gervonta Davis in April. Until even June, ‘The Flash KingRy’ seemed upset about his defeat. He occasionally took to social media to express his displeasure. For instance, he once took to Twitter to blame his promotor for not having come for his press conference after the fight. Oscar De La Hoya however called him out and asked him to finally move on from the fight. And now it seems like Garcia has finally started working towards his future.

He has called out WBC Light Welterweight champion Regis Prograis to enter the ring at 140. He asked Prograis to send his promoter Eddie Hearn to finalize the deal. Will he accept Garcia’s challenge is a question. ‘Rougarou’ Prograis’ promoter, Hearn has reached out to Devin Haney for a fight. Who will Prograis finally fight? However, Ryan seems to have started preparing for his fight anyway.

‘Flash KingRy’ has begun training with a new trainer, Derrick James. However, James is not a novel name for the world of boxing. The veteran trainer has a star-studded group of people he is training. Ryan Garcia started training under him earlier this year. He has changed quite a few trainers in his very short career. The names include his last trainer, Joe Goossen, along with Eddy Reynoso. Under Goossen, he won 2 out of his 3 fights. However, he won all five of his previous fights with Eddy.

The names range from Errol Spence Jr. to Anthony Joshua, and Frank Martin. The 51-year-old trainer has also said that this set of boxers would be his last stint as a trainer. A professional boxer,  James has registered 21 wins, 12 knockouts, 1 loss, and a draw in his career that ranged from 1992 to 2008. It is to only watch if the collaboration between Ryan and James brings the fame of the world championship to the former.

Will Regis Prograis accept Ryan Garcia’s challenge?

In a now-deleted tweet, Ryan Garcia called on Regis to fight him at 140. As Eddie Hearn has already offered Devin Haney to fight ‘Rougarou’ there is an impending curiosity if Regis will take on Garcia. However, Haney might not let the Regis fight slip from him as this is the fight he has been eyeing to become a two-division world champion. After having won over Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr, he might possibly be demanding bigger money from Hearn.

Garcia tweeted, “Regis if you want to fight. Please let Eddie know 🥊🥊 I want all that 💨 I’m confident I can do damage at 140. So if you want to make something happen, please contact my team. I’m dead serious.” However, the Tweet has now been deleted. Has Garcia had a change of mind or is there something else he is thinking?
