Fans were swept off their feet when they saw a nattily dressed Jermall Charlo hugging his brother Jermell before he entered the ring opposite Canelo Alvarez. It’s been more than two years since the former saw the face of the ring. The last few months saw a spurt in incidents that sparked talks of an imminent return. Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo continued to hog the limelight. The battle of the undisputed champions is now over. The Mexican champion continues his hegemony over the division.

‘Iron Man,’ on the other hand, is no longer the undisputed king of the Light Middleweight and has to return to the drawing board and assess his options. Where does that leave ‘The Future of Boxing?’ A new clip has been doing the rounds across social media. It shows him going on a rant against Caleb Plant amidst talks of a slugfest in the making. The two appear to have a history that could be traced back almost two years. Additionally, popular podcaster Gillie Da Kid now appears in his crosshairs.

‘Sweet’ words from ‘Future’

Taking to his Instagram, Jermall Charlo reportedly mentioned that, given an opportunity, he would knock Caleb Plant out cold. Offering an apology for his choice of words, he later added that he beat the living hell out of Gillie Da Kid.

Incidentally, ‘Sweethands’ is the guest of the Million Dollaz Worth of Game‘s latest episode. Hosted by Gillie Da Kid and Wallo, the podcast featured discussions on a possible fight between the two Middleweights.

The two caught everyone’s attention during the Terence CrawfordErrol Spence Jr. weigh-in on July 28. As he subsequently explained, incensed by Jermall Charlo’s persistent belittling and pulling at his beard despite being told to stop, Caleb Plant finally lost his cool and smacked the Middleweight champion’s face. As the altercation went viral, even Spence Jr. couldn’t help commenting, “Caleb and Jermall promoting the #SpenceCrawford fight tomorrow in their own way ..

But many fans might as well recall another weigh-in. Two years ago, on November 6, 2021, Canelo Alvarez met Canelo Alvarez on the last leg of his campaign to become the undisputed Super Middleweight champion.

On the weigh-in day, Charlo, who had successfully retained his WBC Middleweight title from Juan Montiel a few months ago, approached Caleb Plant and shook hands. ‘The Hitman’ said, “I’m [going to] see you too; we’re [going to] fight too…”

Fans must be eagerly looking forward to a response from Plant and his team. Otherwise, comparatively, out of the two, the Tennessean remains the more active boxer, even though he lost an attempt to seize the WBC (interim) title from David Benavidez in March this year. Jermall Charlo, on the other hand, hasn’t fought for over two years. If a fight comes out, he might have to seriously evaluate his skills before taking the plunge.
