It has been a week, but Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov’s fight continues to draw heated debate and opinions. The closely contested fight had everyone on their toes, with no idea of the winner going into the championship rounds, and that’s where the American fighter rose to the occasion. With the WBA strap in his bag, Crawford is making himself feel comfortable at 154. However, his stay attracts scrutiny, and Sebastian Fundora is not letting him off the hook easily.
Fundora, 26, is one of the other champions, who hold a title at 154 and runs the risk of facing ‘Bud,’ as the latter plans for undisputed glory. But that time is not here yet, as both have different plans in the pipeline for now. So, where do the two champions stand?
Fundora, when asked by Fight Hype about Crawford’s performance, said, “I didn’t watch it. I’m not worried about it. If we get that fight, I’d love it, but right now we have a different path.” Notably, the 21-1-1 record holder will face Errol Spence Jr. next, and the timeline could be somewhere around November. But there is no concrete date. He continued, “I’ll announce it for you guys. Everybody wants to announce it. They know the information before me. I’m not even going to say anything anymore.”

Crawford, on the other hand, is yet to zero in on his next opponent. While the 41-0 record holder had high hopes of a legacy fight with Canelo Alvarez, those didn’t materialize. HE Turki Alalshikh has a couple of names of his own, but there is no consensus yet. What’s more? Crawford didn’t shun the chances of going up against ‘The Towering Inferno’.

Terence Crawford hints at a future fight with Sebastian Fundora
When Crawford sat down with Shawn Porter’s YouTube channel, he specified his intent to fight the WBC champion next if Fundora vs. Spence Jr. didn’t happen. He declared, “It would definitely be [Sebastian] Fundora if him and Spence don’t fight. It would definitely be Fundora.” Interestingly, he might have to fend off the winner of Serhii Bohachuk vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr. for the interim WBC title for a while to bag his shot at Fundora.
