When Katie Taylor first called out Chantelle Cameron, the British fighter was delighted that the boxer who headlined the first women’s boxing match in MSG was paying her heed. In fact, the 32-year-old was grateful for the opportunity. Likewise, ‘Il Capo’ was more than eager to put her Undisputed Super Lightweight title on the line just to face Katie.
However, contrary to popular opinion, Cameron proved that she deserved to be in the sport as much as Katie did as she handed the latter her maiden loss in pro boxing. But now, Cameron is “frustrated” that she must sing Taylor’s tune again and risk her titles for the second time. In this context, the British boxer recently explained what was different about her current mentality.

According to Chantelle Cameron, the first time she faced Taylor she was excited as she respected Taylor’s contribution to the sport. As a result, despite an injury she had the whole training camp, Cameron was motivated to not let Taylor down and trained accordingly. By and by, she even defeated Katie. In this connection, as she must now rematch Taylor on the latter’s terms for the second time, Cameron explained she was no longer fascinated by Katie.

“I’m not in awe this time. I think I’ve got a bit more like, back in Dublin. Got to do it all over again. All on Katie’s terms. So, I’m coming in like I do in every other fight week. It’s another opponent, another fighter. And I’m going in there to make sure that I win,” said Cameron who was called out by Alycia Baumgardner too.
While Cameron inches closer to the Katie Taylor rematch scheduled for November 25th, it is worth mentioning that Chantelle wanted to challenge Katie for the Undisputed Lightweight title.

“Frustrated” Cameron wanted a shot at Katie’s belts at 135
Since Cameron beat Taylor at 140 lbs this May, she believed it was more appropriate if the duo rematched at 135 lbs. “I beat her the first time. So she could have put her belts on the line and drained me and got me down to 135,” said Chantelle. In addition, she wished they fought somewhere other than Dublin for the rematch.
