Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was the epitome of physical fitness during his boxing days. Despite competing in the heavyweight division, the former champion moved like a lightweight and had a far leaner physique compared to other boxers in his division. However, his daughter Khaliah Ali was the polar opposite of the champion. One of Ali’s nine daughters, Khaliah struggled with weight issues during her childhood and also appeared in TV shows detailing her struggles.

When she was nine years old, she underwent a weight control program for kids to help her with her struggles. In addition, she revealed that she weighed over 3o0 pounds at one time in her life. However, over the years she would garner the will of her father and lost over 100 pounds following a strict diet and exercise plan. She also opened up about her journey from being obese to a healthy functioning person.

Khaliah Ali opens up about her weight loss journey

In a recent interview with The Today Show, Khaliah claimed that despite losing weight, her journey for a healthy body is still ongoing. She also revealed that she found peace and happiness after losing weight and is now much more confident and comfortable in herself.

Ultimately I’ve found peace, I found peace and happiness and health, and for the first time, I’m finally feeling good in my skin,” she said.

Laila’s journey to weight loss was a hard one. However, it was somewhat made easier by her father as Khaliah also revealed Ali’s involvement in her journey to become fit.

In the interview, Khaliah also detailed how her father gave her a feeling of pride regardless of her weight. This made her strong enough mentally to deal with the issues and work on herself at the same time.

It was often very difficult, but it was also made very easy by the fact that my father always instilled in me, a sense of pride and beauty and always reaffirmed to me how beautiful I was in his eyes,” she said.

Obesity is a problem that has plagued the better part of the world. According to the WHO, it has increased threefold since 1975, with over 1.2 billion people affected by it in 2016. Moreover, the social stigma that comes along with it only adds to the burden of people suffering from this. Despite this, people like Khaliah serve as an inspiration for others to work on their bodies.
