Come 30th September, Jermell Charlo will enter a fight that will probably be the biggest challenge of his life. The younger Charlo brother is all set to enter the ring against one of boxing’s most revered fighters, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The fight poses the former as the underdog against  Canelo who has time and again established his dominance in his weight class. Safe to say, it is a brave choice taken by Charlo. For a while now, it was slated that Jermall Charlo would fight Canelo at the super-middleweight but the older Charlo twin excused himself citing personal reasons.

Enter Jermell Charlo, who will be moving up two weight classes to assert his dominance at 168 pounds. The fight holds big stakes for him as it will determine the trajectory of his boxing career hereon.

The matchup on September 30th will be historic in its true sense. Two undisputed fighters from two different weight classes will collide to dethrone one amongst them. Charlo hopes that it’s him that gets to take away Canelo’s infamous undisputed status. The 33-year-old is leaving no stone unturned in getting this wish of his translated into reality. While he eyes Canelo’s undisputed status, he also undertakes this fight to prove his worth in the boxing realm. But today he is certain of one thing: impressing his fans with his prowess.

Elaborating on the impression he hopes to leave in the upcoming match, Charlo said, “I think they gonna appreciate my skills and what I have been doing for so long as a kid.” He further said that the fight on 3oth will make it clear that every bout he undertakes will be one to behold. He said, “They gonna know that every fight I come to put on a helluva show but I’m also dangerous.”

However, this is not where his aspirations for his big fight against Canelo ends. Jermell Charlo also wants to be counted amongst the greats after this fight. He said, “People will be mixed with emotions and calling me great. I want to be known as great after this.” Folks are already impressed with the dedication he has shown in going up two weight classes in such a short period of time. This fight whether or not in his favor will definitely be one that will be a stepping stone in his legacy.

Next Stop? Terence Crawford

Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford is still coming off his historical victory against Errol Spence Jr. in the welterweight class. Bud proved his boxing acumen by emerging as the ultimate undisputed champion in the weight class. However, as he tests the waters for his next fight, the Nebraska-based fighter had earlier asserted that he wished to fight Canelo Alvarez. The latter however did not seem up to take the offer citing that going down weight divisions to meet Bud would be detrimental to him. However, Canelo’s opponent Charlo has expressed his wish to clash against Crawford.

In a post on his Instagram, Charlo loudly announced that once he is done with his fight against Alvarez, he will in fact go down to  154. He said, “Bout To Shock The World (168). Then I’m Coming Back To Hold My Throne Down at (154). IM THE KING. NOTHING Will Stop Me. Mega Fight’s Here On Out. After My Boy Rematch We Can Give The People What They Want And Make The @tbudcrawford Happen!!”

One thing seems to be certain, apart from Canelo and Charlo, another stakeholder in this Nevada fight is Terence Crawford. But the question remains, will Bud go up to  super middleweight to meet Canelo or will Charlo go down to welterweight to meet Crawford? Amidst these brazen shifts of weights remains one thing: the future of boxing.
