Former IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brooks and Conor Benn were at each other’s throats during the title fight between Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron in Dublin. But the ringside situation failed to escalate further thanks to the security details. Irked by Benn’s disruption while he gave an interview, Brooks confronted him. The former pushed him back. However, security stepped in before Brooks retaliated. So now it was the turn of Benn to speak about the incident and the potential fights he could participate in.

After failing drug tests last year, the fate of Conor Benn has been hanging on the fence. World Boxing Council (WBC) cleared him of ‘intentional doping’ charges in February. But the United Kingdom Anti-Doping (UKAD) agency provisionally suspended him from all boxing-related activities on March 15. But through a tweet on April 20, Benn shared, “I have not been sanctioned by anyone & I’m not banned from boxing. [So] I remain free to fight in events that are not sanctioned by the BBBoC. I don’t even have a BBBoC licence.

Conor Benn talks about his return

Speaking to BoxingSocial, Conor Benn shared that he told Brooks to “stay retired.” After checking a few details regarding possible outcomes of a Kell Brook fight, Charlie Parsons, the BoxingSocial reporter, asked Benn’s views on the Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr. fight. There are unconfirmed reports that their scheduled rematch on July 1 might not occur.

So in the latest context, Parsons asked about the possibilities of a much-vaunted fight with Eubank Jr. Most fans might remember Benn and Eubank Jr. had a match on October 8. However, the BBBofC postponed it as the results of the former’s drug tests came out. Benn said, “The reality is I’ll fight anyone. You know I got options. You know you’ve got Kell Brook calling me out, you’ve got Pacquiao calling me out, we’ve got Chris Eubank wanting the fight, Liam Smith wanting the fight. I believe I came [to] my power up to Super middle, so you know it doesn’t really concern me.

Fans and followers eagerly await Conor Benn’s next moves. For a boxer, who rates himself better than his legendary father, Nigel Benn, prolonged absence from the ring might not profit. His last bout was on April 11 against Chris Van Herdeen.
