After winning the WBO Super lightweight title from Josh Taylor, Teofimo Lopez etched himself at the top of the division. Being on the top obviously means you have a lot of eyes on you. ‘The Takeover’ moved to the Super lightweight division after formerly holding the lightweight crown. He is now set to defend his current title against Jamaine Ortiz. However, Ortiz is not the only one Lopez has to worry about.

27-year-old Conor Benn and the upcoming star Keyshawn Davis are also eyeing a match with him. Lopez does not take well to these two trying to rival him. He expressed his thoughts in an interview with FightHubTV. Let us see what he had to say.

Teofimo Lopez talks about running into Davis and Benn at the UFC gym

Talking about his recent interaction with Conor Benn at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas, Lopez said, “You know that I ran into him at the UFC PI, all friendly, gives me a hug and says, ‘Can I get a picture with you champ?'” Lopez said how Keyshawn Davis also did the same and had asked for a photo with the champ. The fact that they now want to fight Lopez is ironic in its own sense.

Lopez proceeded to say, “Man I guess this is what it feels like to be on top. This is what it feels like. Gosh, I haven’t even fought this year. Come on guys it’s gonna be fun though,” talking about how he has not even fought this year and yet is already involved in all sorts of drama.

However, Lopez isn’t mad about them switching sides now and wanting a match with him, but he does have a condition if they do want to fight him. While wishing them well, he added, “However if you don’t got the Lineal belt, I don’t want you.” This was his way of mocking both the fighters considering neither of them hold any sort of belts right now let alone a Lineal belt.

Another fighter who is the cream of the crop is Terence Crawford. It seems Lopez does not like him very much. Let us find out why.

Lopez shared his interest in facing the P4P king Terence Crawford. Not too long ago, also shot at Crawford saying, “I’m going to say it here. Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford likes to go after guys that are not the same or they’re injured. And I’ll say it right here, a lot of his fights that he has had, he has faced injured fighters,” insulting Crawford’s choice of opponents. Lopez mentioned how even fighting Canelo Alvarez is not right because he is on the decline.

Further talking about the potential Crawford vs Alvarez fight, Lopez said, “Who’s going to want to jump on that? Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford because it looks good. He beats the face of boxing, however, you fought a guy that’s on the decline… You’re not a tough guy.” Lopez proceeded to say how he should fight him instead considering he is fresh and talented.
