WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney claims that Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell is tough to predict. However, he sides with the former.
Only July 1, Eddie Hearn announced that the WBC has ordered a match between Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell after their respective opponents chose a different path. Although the bout has been agreed in principle, no deal has been finalized yet.

In a recent interview, Haney said that he might step up to fight if things don’t go according to the plan.
“It’s very much possible,” Haney told FightHype.com. “Nothing is finalized with nobody yet. He [Campbell] and Ryan don’t have a deal yet, and I don’t have a deal with anybody or an agreement or anything.

“But everybody is negotiating with everybody. The [Campbell vs. Ryan Garcia] winner has to fight me regardless, and if he doesn’t fight me; Let’s say Ryan wins and he doesn’t fight me, all the credit he got [from beating Campbell] will go out the window because he doesn’t want to fight the champion now?”

Haney wants the winner of the match to stay in the division and fight him. He believes that if Garcia wins, he might move to super lightweight.
“That’s very much possible. I hope not. I hope the winner stays here and fights the champion.”
Furthermore, Haney picked Garcia to win against Campbell. But he won’t be surprised to see Campbell get his hand raised either.
“It’ll make for a big fight and a good fight. I think he should win. I think Ryan should win. You’ve got to believe; Luke Campbell is coming off of a loss too.”
Campbell lost to Vasyl Lomachenko via a unanimous decision last year. Since then, he has not competed inside the ring. Haney thinks people are underestimating Campbell. Yet he still believes that Garcia will win because of the momentum behind him.
“People forget that and try to hide that. He’s still coming off of a loss. I think he’s a good fighter and talented, but Ryan has the momentum right now if he looks like he’s ready, and it’s possible.
“But, Luke Campbell has that boxing ability, that ring generalship, and that experience. It’ll make for a good fight. You can’t count Luke out, and you can’t count Ryan out. I think it’s a good fight. But if Ryan wins easily, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
Garcia vs Campbell will be an interesting matchup. Many people believe that Campbell is a dangerous opponent for Garcia. Will Garcia stop Campbell, or will Campbell end Garcia’s undefeated streak? What are your thoughts?
