Mike Tyson‘s return to professional boxing was exactly what most boxing experts predicted it would be. Fighting against Jake Paul in Texas, the former heavyweight champion looked like a shell of his past self. Apart from a brief outburst in the first 20 seconds, Tyson was chasing The Problem Child for the whole match. The age definitely caught up to him after a point and the match became a difficult thing for hardcore fans to swallow.
Even though the 58-year-old stated, “I was trying to hurt him(Jake Paul),” during the post-match interview, the reality was different. El Gallo once again came out victorious and has a victory over Tyson on his resume now, which is an impressive feat no matter what. But it looks like Nico Ali Walsh was unimpressed by this victory, as he called out the 27-year-old for his shameful act.

Jake Paul called an “embarrassment” to boxing
After the fight, Muhammad Ali’s grandson took to ‘X’ and called Jake Paul an embarrassment to boxing. He wrote, “Jake Paul is an embarrassment to this sport,” calling out all of his fights. The Puerto Rico resident has made a career out of fighting combat sports legends and other influencers. But this fight with Mike Tyson is where Walsh drew the line.
Jake Paul is an embarrassment to this sport. If my grandfather was still around, he’d call him out. Absolutely no shame… Love you Mike🙏🏼

The 24-year-old also mentioned his late grandfather and boxing legend Muhammad Ali and stated that if the legend were alive today, he would have definitely called out Paul already. “If my grandfather was still around, he’d call him out,” stated the 10-1 boxer. It is no secret that Mike Tyson adores Muhammad Ali and considers the latter his idol. Tyson also listed the 56-5 boxer as his favorite athlete during the lead-up to the fight against Jake Paul.
It was not a pretty outing for the 58-year-old as he lost via a unanimous decision of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in favor of Paul. However, according to Walsh, the boxing legend has nothing to be ashamed about. “Absolutely no shame… Love you Mike🙏🏼,” stated the 10-1 boxer, and he was right. After all, fighting eight rounds to the end at this age is something that most humans can’t even think of.
At the end of the fight, Paul bowed down in front of Tyson, showing the former heavyweight champion the utmost respect that he deserves. He can now boast this victory around the world, something that Walsh won’t like. However, the 24-year-old had the chance to change or delay the outcome slightly, had he accepted the fight offered to him by Jake Paul before Tyson.
Wash calls out Paul’s circus act
After his victory against Sona Akale earlier in June, Walsh revealed that he rejected a fight offer from MVP as he wanted to “fight against a real fighter.” Paul did not take this disrespect lightly and called Walsh a fraud. The Problem Child wrote, “I been trying to fight this fraud and now he admitted he ducked me but calling me a circus act.”
Lol exactly. His whole point here works against him.
I been trying to fight this fraud and now he admitted he ducked me but calling me a circus act.
Gifted a decision tonight because of his last name. Smh.

A few weeks later, Walsh opened up and revealed the reason behind rejecting the biggest payday of his career. The 10-1 boxer revealed that he “said no before I even heard the numbers.” Even though it “would be money that I’ve never made in my career,” according to Walsh, not everything is about money.
For him, the Ali name holds far more value than everything to him and he won’t let it get tarnished no matter what. “You’ve got to ask yourself how much does your pride cost? How much are you willing to sell out for? Anyone else can do it. But for me, I’m an Ali, I hold my name in such higher weight, I don’t believe I should be playing in the mud with the likes of Jake Paul,” stated Walsh while talking to Sky Sports.

Whether Jake Paul has tarnished boxing with his escapades or not is up for debate. After all, Mike Tyson himself accepted the fight. This debate will go on for a long time, but one thing is certain: that no one promotes a boxing event like The Problem Child.
