The three-division world champion Claressa Shields embodied the famous saying, “Everyone has a price,” as she made it clear that she would not fight undisputed lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron unless it involves big numbers. Shields was scheduled to face Hanna Gabriels on June 3, 2023. However, the fight fell through as the latter tested positive in her  VADA drug test.

Now, Maricela Cornejo, a middleweight contender is the opponent for Shields on the same date. However, Shields appears to be quite confident and is already looking past her as she puts a price on the fight with Chantelle Cameron.

Cameron is a force to be reckoned with. She is the first female boxer to be the undisputed champion in three weight classes. Cameron and Shields have been anticipated to square off against one another for the longest time. Recently, a post was made by @TheSashaJones on Twitter laying down potential opponents for Cameron after her spectacular win against Katie Taylor. She stated, “Chantelle Cameron has MANY options for opponents. Who would you like to see her in the ring with next?”

In the picture, Shields was mentioned as a potential opponent at super welterweight/ catchweight. The same caught the attention of Shields who was quick to react.

She responded, Y’all can take me off of this it’s gonna take 2 million for me go to 147 and smoke her! If I gotta lose my  you gotta pay me large amounts!”

It is safe to say that Shields will only fight Cameron if she gets paid top dollar to come down to catchweight. And it appears that $2 Million financial incentive would be sufficient for her to sign the dotted lines.

As per the Boxing scene, she stated, “I don’t think Chantelle Cameron can beat Katie Taylor. I don’t think Chantelle Cameron is seasoned enough to beat Katie. Now, may she be a little bigger? Sure, but Katie has dealt with size and punching power her entire career.”
