In an interaction with Fight Hub TV, De La Hoya declared what Benavidez could potentially do differently from Alvarez against Plant. While commenting on Benavidez’s qualities, namely, youth, power, and strength, ‘Golden Boy’ labeled the former as “the top dog at 168(lbs)“. Despite predicting a tactical fight from Plant, De La Hoya took time to demonstrate the manner in which Benavidez will “win the fight“.

Here’s how Oscar De La Hoya believes David Benavidez would ‘destroy’ Caleb Plant

As per ESPN, the duo promised each other last year that they would face off in 2023. In his recent interaction with Fight Hub TV, Benavidez called his style “more brutal” than Canelo’s. De La Hoya is quite synonymous with this view. “If Canelo knocked him out, then Benavidez will destroy him,” asserted De La Hoya who believes Benavidez is steps ahead of his most-talked-about contemporary. “I’ve always said that Benavidez is probably the top dog at 168 (lbs). So, the fact that he has a relentless style, the fact that he is young,” added De La Hoya.

According to De La Hoya, Plant has a beautiful style but cannot stop Benavidez in the ring. De La Hoya believes Benavidez can ultimately walk Plant down and secure a victory. “And the youth, and the power, and the strength is going to ultimately win the fight,” De La Hoya concluded. When Alvarez fought Plant he knocked the latter in the 11th round. It would be interesting to see the outcome of Plant vs Benavidez on March 25th.
