“I’d Put My House on…”: Fans Divided Over Riddick Bowe’s Pick for Mike Tyson vs. Tyson Fury Dream Match-Up

There is barely anyone in the boxing community who has not heard about Riddick Bowe. His epic trilogy against Evander Holyfield is a tale fans tell their children to this day. In 1993, ‘Big Daddy’ took down Evander Holyfield with a TKO. Something nobody else had done till that point. But recently, he has been making rounds on the internet for an entirely different reason. According to a Facebook post from Fast Yard, Bowe made a bold prediction about a fantasy fight between Tyson Fury and Mike Tyson. 

While their names might be similar, everything else about them is miles from each other. Soon after the post went public on Facebook, fans went into a frenzy, debating the superiority of their pick. However, who did Bowe predict would win in a clash between the two? According to Bowe, ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson would win because Fury doesn’t move, and Mike is fast and has enormous punching power.

The comment section was an assortment of opinions from fans of both fighters. Each claiming their favorite would remain standing at the end. 

Like this comment from a Facebook user, “I love fury but in his prime iron mike.” The user politely denies the chances of Fury winning against prime Iron Mike, agreeing to what Bowe had predicted.

But the next user had a different opinion. He said, “I’d put my house on Tyson fury even back then!! Iron Mike was the knockout machine but he couldn’t take a good knockdown like Douglas proved..fury got hit and up he goes say no more who disagrees is a dosser.” The user made the claim that Mike was unable to withstand a knockdown during the fight with Buster Douglas but Fury can quickly stand back up.

Meanwhile, one user invited ‘Kid Dynamite’ back to his first gym in Catskill. He said, “Mike come back to Catskill and Train with the Young Brothers and become the oldest Heavy Weight Champ of the World ….Youngest and Oldest… Come back home Lets do this!” 

The next user went into an analysis of the various stages of Mike’s career. He said, “I think a young Tyson, the tyson that beat Trevor berbic and spinks would have every chance ,but the after Douglas Tyson would get beat down.” He concluded that Mike, who took down Trevor Berbick and Michael Spinks, would defeat Fury. But the one who lost to Douglas would not.

Another user asked, “Moves pretty good for a man that big, what is he talking about ?” Here, the user seems to be confused about what Bowe is talking about. He thinks Fury moves pretty well for his weight.

It’s impossible to tell if one would win against the other without it actually happening. Maybe with the advancement in technology, some sort of AI model can simulate the fight accurately and produce the results. Until then, fans have to rely on predictions from experts like Bowe.
