Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a man of different traits, but he is a family man through and through. The American boxer, who dismantled his opponents in the ring and knows how to build businesses, is also a loving and caring father, away from the public gaze. The world caught a glimpse of it when he penned a heartfelt message for his late girlfriend, Josie Harris, ahead of their daughter’s 21st birthday.

Mayweather Jr., 47, and Harris didn’t have a fairy tale ending of the books to their love story but had tough love. The two had a turbulent relationship with much ebb and flow, and they endured it all. Until they couldn’t, after accusations of domestic battery and a defamation suit. Despite their differences, the two were affectionate parents and brought up their three children, Koraun, Zion, and Jirah, with ardent love and fondness. While it has been almost 4 years since Harris’ death, ‘Money’ continues to acknowledge her efforts and miss her presence, especially on special occasions, such as Jirah’s 21st birthday.

The 50-0 record holder turned to his Instagram handle and shared an old picture of Harris and Jirah during the latter’s toddler days. He also tagged Jirah, as he wrote in the caption, “Josie, I wish you were here to see our daughter turn 21.”

This emotional gesture by Mayweather Jr. reflects how dear he held Harris, despite their lost love. What’s more? This is not the first time the former welterweight champion has expressed gratitude to Harris, as he has paid tribute to her in the past by calling her “my angel” and “my rock.”

The Michigan native has devoted more time to his family after hanging up gloves in 2017 and his social media handles bore witness to it. On some days, he is playing with his grandson, Kentrell Gaulden Jr., and on other days, he enjoys a day off with his daughters at his $4.5 million investment. But is he cherishing his time off the boxing ring? Mayweather Jr. admitted he was happier now, spending time with his family.

Mayweather Jr. has helped his family in times of need and continues to help them set up for success. ‘Pretty Boy’ declared on The Pivot Podcast, “I’m happier now without fighting because I’m able to spend so much time with my daughters and so much time pushing my sons to be great, you know. I told my boys I need you guys to go out there. Find your own place and find a way… Show me what you can do, and I’ll help you, and that’s what they’re doing right.

Mayweather Jr., whose success can be largely attributed to his father and his uncle, Roger Mayweather, wants to continue their legacy and pass down the same work ethic to his children and his grandson. He continues to extend his efforts and contribute to their success.
