One of the all-time legends of the sport, Larry Holmes, is no longer a boxing fan. While his impeccable memories of beating Muhammad Ali and several other legends are still fresh in people’s minds, Holmes has turned his attention from boxing to wrestling.

The sport of boxing has been through some serious transition from what it used to be in Holmes’ prime years. Several social media stars, YouTubers, and celebrities are now comfortably trying their luck in the ring. That said, Holmes seemingly prefers to watch pro-wrestling instead of boxing these days.

In an exclusive chat with Fight HUB TV, Holmes shared his views and shook several fans. When the interviewer asked him about picking the best boxing matchups of recent times, Holmes had a straightforward response.

He said, “I will rather watch professional wrestling”

“I mean wrestling is crazy man. You know with Hulk Hogan up there. Those guys man, they out of it.”

Boxers like Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, and even Tyson Fury have tried luck in pro-wresting. No wonder WWE and AEW like entities hold massive fan followings. However, boxing and pro-wresting are way different from each other, and seeing a former world champion pugilist prefer pro-wrestling over his own sport was quite shocking for the fans.

Boasting a 69-6 professional record, Larry Holmes brought massive attention to the sport of boxing during his prime years. He also unveiled some of the biggest fights in the history of the sport. Well, it’s been almost two decades since he hung his gloves. And is no longer associated with modern-era pugilism.

How great of a boxer was Larry Holmes?

Holmes retired from boxing while riding a four-fight win streak, which reflects the kind of prowess he had during his prime.

The only six losses of his career have come against legendary names and when he passed his prime. Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Michael Spinks are some of the notable names to have beaten ‘The Easton Assassin.’

Mike Tyson is the only boxer to have technically knocked out Holmes. All the rest were via decision. On the contrary, Holmes earned most of his wins via stoppage, touting 44 KOs in 69 wins. His name is forever etched in the books of boxing greats. That said, the legends seem to be in a distance from the sport and apparently relish that, while he enjoys watching pro-wrestling at dotage.
