“I Will Not Argue That” – Legendary Boxing Trainer on Tyson Fury’s ‘Flimsy Gloves’

Legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas has had his say on Deontay Wilder’s accusations against Tyson Fury. Wilder posted a bizarre video on his social media accusing Fury and his team of all sorts of foul play.

Fury beat Wilder via TKO in February; and speaking for the first time since the fight, Wilder accused Fury of tampering with his gloves. Teddy Atlas, however, is having none of it.

Speaking on THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas on YouTube, he said, “Basically, you would have to blame yourself a little bit if something was put in there.

“Because you just saw the picture [clip of Wilder’s team in Fury’s dressing room] He had his people there watching.” Clearly implying that the accusations hold no value whatsoever.

Atlas went on to say that Fury’s gloves did seem flimsy, but that doesn’t mean there was anything in the gloves. He said, “Now listen, I will not argue that there’s pictures of his gloves looking flimsy and almost unattached. I will not argue [with] that.

“I will argue that there’s a horseshoe in there, or a piece of metal in there, or anything like that, I’ll argue that,” suggesting that pointing out Fury’s suspicious gloves and accusing him of having metal objects in them are very different.

Why Teddy Atlas believes Tyson Fury could not have tampered with his gloves

Other than the obvious reason that the gloves are with the commission prior to the fight, Atlas also offered another perspective on why it is impossible that he did.

“If it was flimsy, and there was something in there, you would have seen it bouncing, it would have been bouncing around. And it would have been making some indentation in the glove.

“Where you would have recognized something like, ‘what’s going on in there. What they got golf balls in there?’ But I will admit that you know, it looked like a flimsy sort of glove.”

These comments show just how ridiculous Wilder’s accusations are. There is no way Fury would have gotten away with having something in his gloves; especially in modern-day boxing.

There have been a number of other stars who have reacted to these accusations and all have had the same reaction. This tells you enough about whether they hold any value or not.
