Dillian Whyte has opened up about his fight against Alexander Povetkin. The British heavyweight claimed he was knocking down the Russian without even connecting properly and also gave a prediction for their rematch.
Whyte has been one of the top contenders in the heavyweight division for the longest time. Moreover, he was unjustly denied a world title shot and thus took the fight against Povetkin. However, the risk didn’t pay off, and Povetkin knocked him out in the fifth round.

Despite this, he dominated the fight until that point. And now Whyte spoke about the bout on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel. He said he wanted the rematch straight away because he knew he could beat him.
Whyte said, “I was putting him down with punches that weren’t even proper punches. I wasn’t even connecting.”
These comments showed how hard he felt he was hitting the Russian. He dropped Povetkin twice in the fourth round before the Russian knocked him out cold.

Dillian Whyte says Alexander Povetkin will not get up this time
The Londoner gave his take on their March 6 rematch. ‘The Body Snatcher’ felt he would connect properly and referenced his street fights. He said when he connects, they don’t get up.
“I wasn’t even hitting this guy with proper punches, and he was going down. So, I’m like, you know what, this time, when I sit down and time punches and set my punches up, he might not get up this time,” said Whyte.

These comments showed his confidence ahead of the rematch. Furthermore, given his performance in the last fight and his knockout record, it is easy to see why the Englishman is confident in finishing Povetkin.
This is a make or break fight for the Londoner who has to get the job done and make a statement to the heavyweight division. However, going by his comments, he seems to be confident in his ability to do this.
