Boxing legend Mike Tyson was never destined to become a professional boxer but turned out to be one of the best to ever do it. However, this would not have been the case if the former heavyweight champion didn’t consciously make an effort to pursue the sport.

During his childhood, Tyson got into a lot of fights and altercations resulting in him going to jail frequently. This is why many believed that he would end up in jail like many coming from his background but ‘Iron Mike’ had some other plans in mind
Mike Tyson opens up about the choices that got him this far
In the recent episode of his podcast HotBoxin along with rapper Cordae, Tyson revealed that he wasn’t always supposed to be a boxer. He claimed that he would end up in prison if he hadn’t chosen the sport or even worse would be dead.
“It’s a lot of crazy sh*t. I was supposed to be in prison. I just went that other route.” he said
Tyson was introduced to boxing in prison after he found former professional boxer Bobby Stewart in a juvenile center when he was 12. Stewart would then train a young ‘Iron Mike’ but would send him off to Cus D’Amato. Tyson would then excel under D’Amato’s tutelage, which turned him into a fierce and vicious fighter. If Tyson hadn’t found boxing he would certainly not be thriving in life but would be in prison or dead according to him.
Tyson reveals the time Tupac visited him in prison
The former champion had a great relationship with rapper Tupac Shakur, who was one of his many celebrity friends. Moreover, Shakur even visited Tyson in prison as ‘Iron Mike’ detailed how he felt after meeting his friend in prison. He stated that the California Love singer would jump on his table while he would try to get him down from there.

“Him coming to visit me in prison and he’s talking. He’s so excited so animated and then all of a sudden we outside he jumps on the table and I’m like and the cops and the guards are looking up. I’m like come down and I say get down from there come here. What’s wrong? I said come down, please come down” said Tyson.
‘The Baddest Man On the Planer’ was certainly an enigma who lived a life unmatched by a normal person. However, he never forgot his roots and always looked out for his friends who in turn looked out for him.
