Many believed that Fury would actually hang up his gloves after his victory in April. But this was short-lived after Fury immediately started calling out almost every fighter for his return. The reason behind this has now been revealed by the champ himself as he detailed what his life was like during retirement.
In an interview with Top Rank boxing, he stated that he was very depressed after vacating his title and did not know what to do with his life anymore. “So I had a lot going on when I vacated the Ring Magazine. When I called up Mauricio and said thank you I’m out. The realization that it’s actually over. It was like 4 or 5 days, I was down very low. I was suicidal. I’ll be truthful and it was like I don’t know what is going to happen now.” said Fury.

Fury has been a professional boxer for the better part of his life and moving away from it naturally had a toll on his mental health. However, for the time being, Fury feels that boxing is the only outlet that can help him with his mental health struggles.
The Gypsy King has previously struggled with mental health in the past following his victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015. Even then, boxing looked like the only way for him to get better as he came back to become a champion once again.
