How do the fans remember Mike Tyson? A ferocious and no-nonsense knockout machine. But for Milan Tyson, his daughter, he is the most caring man. The American boxer has been a constant presence in Milan’s life, from looking after her to cheering for her in the stands as she plays a competitive tennis match. Not what you expect from a man who used to brutally knock out his rivals, right?

The 57-year-old has been there, as solid as a rock and as soft as a feather, to protect and care for Milan. So, when Father’s Day came knocking, Milan found the perfect opportunity to write an emotional message for her “coolest” dad. She turned to her Instagram handle and penned a message brimming with love for Tyson. The post had adorable snaps of the father-daughter duo, from public appearances to celebrating festivals at home, all showing a different, softer side of the former heavyweight champion, usually hidden from the fans.

Milan wrote, “I love you so so much daddy! Ur the coolest dad and funniest guy to be around love how unserious you are!! Have the best daddy appreciation day everrrr @miketyson.”

Interestingly, someone in the comments pointed to the fourth slide of the post, where Milan appeared with a grunted face. And Tyson was catering to her; she made a candid confession. She replied, “I was a menace.” This suggested how much care and patience the heavyweight boxer had poured into raising Milan. He had been a loving father to Milan, and he once reflected on his journey as a parent.

Mike Tyson learned from the past to be a better dad

Last year, when Tyson and Milan graced the 2023 ESPY Awards, he detailed his parenthood experience. He remarked that the responsibility proved to be a daunting task, tougher than dropping an opponent on the canvas. Why? Because the Brooklyn native didn’t have any father figure while growing up to emulate the same for Milan. He said, “I didn’t have a dad either, but by making a lot of mistakes, you learn how to become a dad.”

During the same event, Milan shed light on how it was to have Tyson as a father. She had a heartfelt response as she declared, “He’s calm, he’s a really good dad. He just takes us to the movies, he does things. He just does normal things.” Tyson has held Milan’s hand whether she has tumbled or learned to walk, and he continues to do the same as she grows.
