WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has opened up on just how difficult life was when he was struggling with mental health issues. In conversation with TalkSPORT, he urged fans and listeners to know that there is always light ahead of the tunnel.
The ‘Gypsy King’ said, “When you’re feeling down, it’s only a short-lived thing you know? Sooner or later you’re going to feel well again. And I’ve been there where I woke up every day and every day was a gray day; every day was a dark day. And I wanted to die every single day…But listen, I promise everybody. The grey days will turn into sunshine days again. And you will see… you will see happiness again.”

Ever since his comeback, Fury has aimed at creating more awareness of mental health. He encouraged his fans and said, “the thing that we got to do is, you got to seek help. If you’re struggling with mental health, to struggle on your own is terrible. It’s very hard, I’ve been there, done that for a long… long… all my life nearly. You must speak to friends or family or anybody you can speak to.”
The Englishman gave more details of his struggles, hoping to help anyone else suffering from the same. He spoke about how he came from a family where talking about it was always a sign of weakness; however, once he did talk about it, it was the best decision he made.

The 32-year-old said that every individual will go through a period in their life where they will feel down and depressed. However, it is not embarrassing and shameful if they do seek help. Furthermore, he urged fans to do so if they are feeling down and anxious.
He revealed that the mental breakdown was the greatest thing to happen to him because it made boxing easy. Fury said that after he overcame something as tough as that, getting into the ring healthy and well was a blessing.
