Shakur Stevenson prepares for his next fight against Dominican southpaw Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBC lightweight title. However, as his 16th November fight inches closer, he remains unsure why he’s not got to take his jabs against Vasyl Lomachenko. Having expressed his desire to fight the Ukrainian fame, Stevenson still has no finalized plan to enter a bought against Lomachenko.

When offered the Stevenson fight, Lomachenko excused himself citing that he would take a break for the remainder of the year. This came after he controversially lost to Devin Haney in May this year. A loss that many thought was unfair to the prowess he had exhibited on fight night, ‘Loma’ continues to negotiate with it. In agreement with the same notion remains Stevenson, but his support for Loma will seize the day they both compete.

Shakur Stevenson anticipates a Loma fight

In less than a month, ‘Sugar’ Stevenson will enter the iconic T-Mobile Arena of Las Vegas to prove his mettle in the lightweight class. While he prepares for this titular bout, he remains confused as to why Loma refused to hope on to one of the best purses he was offered. Sugar said, “I don’t know why we didn’t fight this fight. That shoulda been the next fight. I heard he got offered the biggest purse of his career and turned it down. So hopefully, we can still make something happen. I don’t see why not.”

With his anticipation also comes his promise to show his opponent the face of loss. He detailed, “So when I smoke [Lomachenko] I think that the world would understand that I really am the truth. That should have been the next fight. I think it’s a possibility that I stop him, and if not, I’ll be beating the s**t out of him.”

The anticipation for a fight between Shakur Stevenson and Vasyl Lomachenko has reached the brim. Sooner, or later, it is highly possible that the fight will take its course, and when it does, it will be one for books. Fans concur.

Fans further the anticipation

Ever since Shakur Stevenson lost his chance to fight Devin Haney after the latter chose to go up the weight to meet Regis Prograis, he’s encountered a dry spell of fights. But with his De Santos fight, he breaks this dry spell. After having lost the opportunity to fight an abled fighter like ‘The Dream’ Haney, a sect of fans believe that he yearns to fight Loma because of how old the latter is to Shakur. The striking 9-year age difference could play in favor of the younger, Stevenson.

Vasily Lomachenko is considered one of the best fighters of the realm and a real class act at it. In times of distress, he never went below the belt. One fight recognizes him for that.

Loma has registered three losses in his record of 20 bouts. One remains the most recent one and the most controversial one against Devin Haney. He lost through a unanimous decision at the MGM Grand Arena of Las Vegas.

Further to this discourse, another fan reiterated the majority stance in the boxing realm that Loma deserved to win the fight against Haney.

However, at the crux of it all, a fight between Lomachenko and Stevenson is one that has been stalled far too long. And when it happens, it will be one that meets the anticipation of many.

Loma’s May fight against Haney was a severe blow to his boxing career. His ongoing absence from the ring seems to stem from that. However, when it all ends and he re-enters the ring that once resounded in his favor, his first fight will perhaps be against Shakur Stevenson. A fight that the latter has asked for oh so, vehemently.
