Alycia Baumgardner is planning on dropping a bomb. What is it about though? The undisputed female super featherweight faced an unexpected twist as she tested positive for two banned substances before her July 15 fight against Christina Linardatou. Matchroom Boxing, her promoter, revealed the results of a voluntary anti-doping test, indicating the presence of mesterolone and methenolone acetate metabolites in her pre-fight ‘A’ sample on July 12.

However, the subsequent tests post-fight on July 15 and another on July 16 returned clean results. Despite this, the revelation adds a layer of complexity to Baumgardner’s recent victory, sparking discussions about the impact of the positive pre-fight test on the legitimacy of her undisputed title defense. The champion is now planning to make things clear and claim her innocence.

Post the tests, a surprised Baumgardner stated on social media that the two substances detected were unfamiliar to her. That she had never encountered or used them. Determined not to remain silent, she asserted her intention to actively address and navigate through the situation. Baumgardner has posted a clip on her X account where she is announcing that she has some serious proof that can prove her innocence. “I’m going to set the record straight, okay, and it’s been a long time coming,” said the champion.

She expresses her belief in her team, experts, and above all, science. These, she claims, will reveal the true story. When asked how she is planning to do it, she responded, “You’re just gonna have to wait and see. I will be dropping some very juicy news following this interview with you and it’s just gonna show the world why I’ve always been a clean athlete and why these muscles have always been a flex.”

Baumgardner reminds the fans that she has always stood for clean sports and will continue to do so. She is ready to shatter any hopes that her haters have of her doom. The WBO, however, might still need some more evidence.

The WBO’s ‘show cause’ notice

The WBO has intensified the scrutiny surrounding Alycia Baumgardner’s drug testing investigation, issuing a ‘Show Cause’ letter. The letter demands that within 30 days Baumgardner should provide reasons why the WBO Championship Committee should not recommend declaring the WBO Female Jr. Super Featherweight titles vacant or take other appropriate actions. Failure to comply could lead to the committee proceeding without further hearings. The move adds a layer of urgency to the ongoing situation. Moreover, it casts uncertainty over Baumgardner’s championship status. The potential consequences of the investigation on her title are up for discussion.
