Mike Tyson‘s life has not been a cakewalk. Even though he dominated the sport of boxing at a young age, his initial years were not easy for him. The former Heavyweight champion had a troubled childhood. He was reportedly arrested not less than 38 times before he even turned 13. Tyson dropped out of high school. It is safe to say that destiny had another path to greatness for ‘Iron’ Mike, as he was meant to be a professional boxer. Despite his hardships, Tyson ensured that his children experienced what he never could. And, they go places he never did.

In a recent episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the 56-year-old discussed the sacrifices he had to make. And he had to endure a lot so that his children could get the life he never had.

‘Iron’ Mike has a life story that is no less than a Hollywood movie. As a child, Tyson was involved with bad company, which landed him in jail numerous times. Tyson has developed a strong and beautiful connection with his children. And to see what his children are doing and achieving brings him immense joy.

In a recent episode of his podcast, he was joined by Katt Williams, and he discussed his kids with him. Tyson said, “They all graduated from sophisticated colleges and stuff. I always think to myself Wow what would that be like.” Furthermore, Tyson showed his gratefulness for being able to send his kids to such great colleges.

Tyson said, “I took the punches so he didn’t have to.” He further added, “I look at my son he’s eleven years old. I said damn, when I was eleven I was locked up.” Tyson further discussed how his son couldn’t have handled all that he went through, and it may be even have killed him. Williams pitched in and said that no eleven-year-old should be in Tyson’s position when he was younger. It is worth mentioning that Tyson has been open about his relationship with his children.

Tyson was “protected” when went to jail at 11

Further in the podcast, Mike Tyson discussed his experience in jail as a child. He said, “I went to the child house. All my friends are there.” He added that every time he went to prison as a child, he went to his friends. And he did not have to worry about someone beating him up or doing anything to him because all his friends were there with him.

Tyson said that he was institutionalized at a young age. He added, “I was that guy everybody always protected me. I was just lucky.” Tyson’s life story can give goosebumps to the listeners. And to go on and dominate the sport with this background, is simply exceptional!
