Yes, it’s true, Mike Tyson will wrestle a great white shark on national television!
Mike Tyson has opted to dive into the deepest ends of the ocean and put up a fight against a great white shark, all in the pursuit of science and knowledge. The episode, titled “Tyson vs. Jaws: Rumble on the Reef,” will air on the Discovery Channel’s popular show “Shark Week” on August 9.
In a press release, The Discovery Channel said, “Tyson will combine the best of science and technology to capture the secret lives of sharks, taking viewers where cameras have never been before.”

Mike Tyson shared why he volunteered to take on a shark out of all his options for a comeback.
“I took on this challenger to overcome fears I still deal with in life. I equate this with overcoming my fear of getting back into the ring at 54 years old,” Tyson said.
The former heavyweight champ added, “I learned from this experience doing Shark Week that whatever intimidates me, I am still able to step up to the challenge of overcoming anything that would prevent me from accomplishing my life’s mission of reaching my highest potential in life and bringing me closer to God.”
Mike Tyson has a history of dealing with exotic animals
This isn’t Mike Tyson’s first time dealing with an animal capable of easily killing him. He was the owner of 3 pet tigers back in 1995. He even allowed those big cats to sleep in the same bed as him. Mike Tyson has since learned what it means to deal with an animal of that size and agreed that it wasn’t right on his part to try to tame those tigers.
Tyson said, “I was foolish. There’s no way you can domesticate these cats 100 percent. No way that’s going to happen. They’ll kill you by accident, especially when you’re playing rough with them, you’re punching them back. They get hyped up, hit you back, and you’re dead.

“I used to sleep with them. I’m just happy I educated myself. It was late. But I was doing the wrong sh*t. I shouldn’t have had them in my house, believing they were domesticated. I was wrong.”
This year will be Shark Week’s 32nd year of airing, and it will last over 8 days. What do you think? Will Mike Tyson snap off the ear of the shark, or will the shark live up to its reputation?
